Senior Pets:
  • need special attention paid to their health and nutritional status
  • monitor older pets for early disease signs or symptoms and for changes in their body condition
  • should be treated on an individual basis and nutrient level alteration should depend on their activity level and     health status
  • are more likely to have chronic diseases that may necessitate specific diets
  • as a rule, senior diets are moderately restricted in energy and reduced in some nutrients such as protein,     phosphorus and sodium
