Dr. Dennis Johnson was born and raised on a farm in Nokomis, Illinois. During his childhood taking care of the cows, pigs, and horses he had a strong desire to become a veterinarian. He graduated from the University of Illinois with his degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He then went to Petersburg, Illinois to become a mixed animal practitioner. He later built the Animal Medical Clinic in Springfield, Illinois, which was a state of the art practice. In 1979, the Lemen Veterinary Clinic became available for purchase and Dr. Johnson moved to Decatur, later selling the Animal Medical Clinic in Springfield.
Dr. Johnson has continued the tradition of providing the best veterinary care. In 2003, Dr. Skelton, an associate of Dr. Johnson, purchased the Best Friends North (previously Lemen Vet Clinic) and Best Friends Vet Clinic, both in Decatur Illinois. Dr. Johnson retired to his love of training horses, racing cars, traveling, training and hunting his dogs, Lewie and Socks, and playing golf. This retirement only lasted a few weeks, until Dr. Johnson found that all these hobbies could not replace the mental stimulation of veterinary medicine along with seeing the pups and kittens, and the communication with the pet owners. Therefore, after looking at many practices, mostly in Florida, he was introduced to the Feesers. After a 5 minute tour of the practice, Dr. Johnson purchased the Greenville Veterinary Hospital. With a dedicated and knowledgeable staff Dr, Johnson is going to continue the highest quality of general practice at Greenville Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Johnson has a 2 yr. old cat named Vouch, a 3 yr old German Short Hair Pointer named Lewie.
